She also criticizes the witches' acting almost like pedophiles. The Chick feels that this movie teaches children to lose their virginity quickly, which would be unusual for Disney. She also wasn't a fan of the movie's fake-outs. The Chick laments how the show was just a female version of her popular male counterpart, He-Man, and failed to make a significant impact. ThatGuyWithTheGlasses has a guest spot as Rasputin and Lenin. The music and animation were good in her view, though. The Chick sees this movie as Don Bluth surrendering to the power of Disney. She criticizes the character's messiah complex and in the end feels the movie lacks plot and any resolution. Lindsay was immediately turned off by Louise's selfishness right from the start of the movie. This was also the first time her "Puppies!" running gag was used. This was the first Nostalgia Chick review and was the one to get TheDudette onto the site. To settle the three-way tie between TheDudette, ThatChickWithTheGoggles and Marzgurl, The Critic picked TheDudette to win the contest! The Search For The Nostalgia Chick! Tired of people requesting girls' shows and movies, Doug kicked things off with a search for a female counterpart! This was the contest that started it all. Lindsay also no longer limits herself to girly shows and movies.Īs the Nostalgia Chick, Lindsay also teamed with Doug to review "Ferngully: The Last Rainforest" and in the Year One brawl, which celebrated 's first birthday, as well as the Kickassia crossover. So, a contest was held to find the Nostalgia Chick. In August of 2008, Doug got tired of getting requests for shows he never saw since he is a guy. In fact, that was how the search for the Nostalgia Chick began. The only difference? She reviewed the shows and movies targeted to female audiences since Doug had never watched them growing up. The show started out much like that of her male counterpart. Several episodes have been produced by Lindsay. After the contest was over, it turned out that counterpart would be none other than Lindsay Ellis a.k.a. Over the summer of 2008, the The Nostalgia Critic put out a search for a female counterpart.
